Spanish Speaking Countries (Countries in Central America, South America, Europe)
During Spanish Club I have participated in many activities that taught me mostly about Mexican and Spanish culture. I learned about holidays like Día de los Muertos, and had the opportunity to dive into the history behind their ofrendas, masks, marigold flowers, parades, and food like pan de muerto and flan. These activities helped deepen my understand of the world because I saw the different perspectives other cultures have on important topics. For example, where Día de los Muertos is celebrated, death isn't feared or treated as it is in the United States. Instead, death is not taboo. It is a reminder to celebrate life. There are also similarities between my culture and those of other Spanish-speaking countries. Something we have in common is the importance of surrounding yourself with family.
